Justin matthew jackson is…
a Bay Area-bred writer, DJ, entrepreneur, and big WWE nerd. He studied television writing, improv, and sketch comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade, The Second City, and Script Anatomy. Justin tells stories about identity and finding one’s place in the world, blending heartfelt moments with millennial humor. He was a finalist for the TRIBE Writers’ Fellowship led by award-winning writer/director/producer Amy Aniobi and quarter-finalist of the Black Boy Writes Mentorship.
As a DJ, ‘J. Jaxx’ progressively became one of the Bay Area’s most prominent names with an ambiguous style and versatility in all genres, including House, Disco, Funk, Hip-Hop, and R&B. It’s his willingness to take risks with sound that has led him to transcend from small venues around the city to major clubs across the country, playing alongside world-renowned DJs and artists such as Kaytranada, George Clinton, Austin Millz, Freddie Gibbs, Madlib, Coco & Breezy and many more. Remaining one step ahead with a trusted ear for what’s next, he paired his experience, craftsmanship, and hospitality to execute his own event entitled Les Play House. A rare experience dedicated to the sounds of House, Disco, and Funk. Debuting to a sold-out show in San Francisco in 2019, he quickly recognized its demand and expanded beyond its hometown by taking the event across the country, as it still thrives to this day.
